I am RICARDO VARGAS, a Second Generation Student in JEET KUNE DO, the martial art and philosophy, the training and fighting method of the legendary BRUCE LEE, the most extraordinary martial artist of our time. I was personally trained and certified by two of BRUCE LEE´s original students Sifu JERRY POTEET and Grand Master RICHARD S BUSTILLO. I was also personally trained and certified as Instructor in Golden Dragon Self Defense System by its founder, Grand Master SEBASTIAN NAZARIO.
JEET KUNE DO is more than just a martial art style or a training method for body combat. Having a degree in Philosophy, more than twenty five years of martial arts training and the guidance of my masters have enabled me to gain a deeper understanding of BRUCE LEE´s thinking. Through my life experience I have come to realize, that JEET KUNE DO is a useful tool for human development. A practitioner, or a follower of his philosophy, can be a better person every day, as a father, as a husband, as a friend, as a citizen, because BRUCE LEE´s art and philosophy can be applied to many different aspects of life.

Every year, I attend the BRUCE LEE FOUNDATION event in the U.S.A. In 2009, in Universal City, California, I was assistant instructor for Grand Master RICHARD BUSTILLO. For me, this was one of the highest honors in my martial arts career. It was marvelous to see my name printed on the same page as BRUCE LEE´s original students, the JEET KUNE DO masters. I remember clearly and keep in my heart LINDA LEE´s words at that time: “You have the opportunity to learn scientific moves of Jeet Kune Do from some of Bruce Lee´s original students. But these opportunities are becoming rarer each year, as all of us who knew Bruce personally are getting older. Luckily, we have SECOND GENERATION STUDENTS to pass on the teachings. I encourage you use your time with the instructors… to make the leap from science to the art”.
My mission, as a Jeet Kune Do Second Generation Student, is to pass on Bruce Lee´s teachings. I wish to share my knowledge and experience with you in order to preserve and promote BRUCE LEE´s legacy in Australia and all around the world. I am an accredited instructor.
